Bought a set of forks off globalflats marketplace. First time buying second hand stuff off global. Anyway, I thought everything was cool, but I assembled it today on my ride and what the hell, the threaded insert that the compression bolt screws into is broken and loose, just sitting in there. DAMN!!!!!!!
I will be very wary of buying secondhand stuff now. I bought once off this forum and once off global, and both times things were broken.
I think its new parts forever from now on. It seems the only reason ppl sell something is because they broke it.

There's probably a lot of quality stuff for sale second hand,
its just that 2 out of 2 times makes me think never again.

Yeah, Vajdas. I think the guy was not very good with tools coz he just about stripped one brake mount, broke the insert, used no grease on threads, scratched up the forks with spanners n stuff from setting brakes and the fork bolt looks like it was put under a lot of load and almost stripped too. I will find a way to remedy it but its new parts for me now. I may even try red loctite on the insert. Some ppl are just not technically minded to fit things or set things up.

The reason I got Vajdas over tanakas and suelos is because the steerer tube is longer.
Its just long enough to run rear brakes with my tall headtube and tall stem.

Yes, to be fair, I have got new stuff faulty, and /or scratched.
Its all just luck of the draw. But I have not even heard of a broken fork insert,
how could I even guess that?

You make the decision to buy second hand and hopefully get something in good nick for a lower price. Unless you're pedantic, I haven't had too much problem with buying anything off line. It just sounds like you got the short straw with your two purchases?
