[quote="flatnatics":314w887i]now that 3d tv's are out...
how long till a 3d flatland vid is released???[/quote:314w887i]
3D TV will never catch on, people just spent thousands of dollars on HD TV's, and they are not going to chuck them out for even more expensive TV that don't do much. The next big leap will be true 3D holographic TV in about 15 years.
And besides if I wanted to sit around watching TV with glasses on I'd get myopia.

3d has a lot of potential if TV stations move forward with it...
yeah it has a certain gimmick to it but it will catch on to,
especially to things like NRL and other sports which have a large draw card...
I've known ppl to buy a f##k off big TV just for the state of origin so it possible or maybe
ali is correct and it will die in the arse...

gotta remember that a tv with 3d capability isn't that much more expensive so its only a matter of time...
technology is much more affordable so it has a much better chance of taking of now then ever before...
time will tell as usual...

unless 3D tv tech improves a lot from the way that it is now, it won't catch on. on top of all the things that was mentioned on previous posts, 3D tvs have very very limited field of vision to make it worthwhile being viewed by multiple people. there really are only a small amount of places that you can position yourself to fully experience the 3D effects.
it's too early to say 3D tvs are going to catch on. make the tech better and more practical for use then perhaps.
also yes there may be people out there that will buy the latest tech but surely they won't be a large enough market to make it profitable.
my 2 cents.

True, 3D isn't going to take off, (the way it has been implimented at this stage anyway). Even a huge TV like 42" and bigger, is still too small to get the 'benefits' of 3D. Anyway, how many people have to wear vision corrective glasses?
That's a huge chunk of the population because they can't even see it.
Besides, people are going to be looking back at this in 10 years laughing,..
"LOL look at those stupid glasses they're wearing!"

but saying that it never took of before had its reasons...
3d tvs weren't available is a major one...
the glasses are the only thing that suxs but im sure after market companies will come tot he rescue and
make something more comfortable and maybe there will be prescription 3d glasses in the future for those who need em...
watching a flat vid in 3d would definitely be awesome...
