[quote="timguyperson":10peak59]So just did a xtreme sports show in Hervey Bay for JC Epedemic, and the principle of the christian school there gave everyone a hunting knife for their riding... [Image Can Not Be Found] hahaha seemed a bit wierd to me :p[/quote:10peak59]
Well that's just lovely. The principle of a christian school dancing around the limits of the law not to mention being extremely foolish and inappropriate in giving out knives. [Image Can Not Be Found]
The Queensland Weapons Act 1990 says
[quote:10peak59]a person must not physically possess a knife in a public place or a school, unless the person has a reasonable excuse". A reasonable excuse includes:
- to perform a lawful activity, duty or employment; or
- to participate in a lawful entertainment, recreation or sport; or
- for use for a lawful purpose.
The Act goes on to give examples:
- a person may carry a knife on his or her belt for performing work in primary production;
- a fisher may carry a knife for use while fishing.
- a person may use a knife to prepare or cut food at a restaurant in a public place or when having a picnic in a park.
- a person may carry a pen knife or Swiss army knife for use for its normal utility purposes.[/quote:10peak59]

There's far too many knives out there already. You don't go giving people knives unless they actually have a legitimate reason for needing one.
The location they did the demo may not have been a public place but if the event was "open to the public" then its status changes.
Also, as soon as they left the event they would have been "in public" without a valid reason for possessing it. Get pulled over driving home and then BAM "what is your reason valid reason for having a weapon in your vehicle?"

haha, seriously though, that's why you just have to keep it well concealed.

Anyway man, cops can use there imagination why can't we. Say umm, incase my cars breaks down, or my bike broke, knives can be used in many ways can't they? There tools right?
meh on other random news, anybody know things about nissan 180sx's I know of one pretty cheap dec 88 needs boddy work as one side took a hammering, firstly anyone know if you can get shassy straightened? in case it's bent and roughly how much it might cost?
I'm just thinking it might be interesting project, as they seem to bring a few k still. so with the price it seems to have a good potential of profit growth if repaired.

It was the day after the event, so it was no longer open to public anymore. Knives are everywhere, most house holds have bigger knives then the ones we got, just the ones we got are more fancy. If your not allowed knives in public then why do they sell them in public places? I've bought a butterfly knife which is the most common for stabbing offences due to it's concealability and for how quick the blade can come out, at garden city shopping centre at the Knife King. There is nothing wrong with knives, they've been an essential part of human everyday life for thousands of years. I'm giving it to my girlfriend anyway lol She likes knives, kinda scary, just thinking mabye I shouldn't now in case I piss her off cause now she'll be armed with a weapon....hmmm

Butterfly Knives (balisong's) are prohibited weapons in WA, VIC, SA and NSW. Queensland is the only state where they are permitted.
They are however nationally restricted weapons under Customs legislation and cannot be imported without permission from local police and customs and cannot be sold.
Unfortunately in QLD it's one of those stupid cases where it's illegal to sell them but not to own them.
